José A. Joao

I work in the Architecture Research group at Arm in Austin.

I received a PhD in Computer Engineering at the ECE Department at the University of Texas at Austin, in the HPS Research Group, supervised by Prof. Yale N. Patt. My research area is high-performance computer architecture. I am especially interested in cooperative solutions involving software (language / compiler / operating system) and microarchitecture to improve performance and energy efficiency of parallel and object-oriented code. I worked at Intel Austin in the spring and summer of 2011 and the summer and fall of 2010, at Intel Hillsboro in the summer of 2009, at Microsoft Research in the summers of 2007 and 2008, and at Advanced Micro Devices in the summer of 2005. I received the Intel Corporation PhD Fellowship for 2010-2011 and the Microelectronics and Computer Development Fellowship from UT Austin during 2003-2005. Before I came to the U.S., I taught Digital Systems at Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia San Juan Bosco, Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina.
