In Austin: ========== 1. Mount Bonnell: -Take Mopac North from 24th street -Exit for F.M. 2222 ( also called Nothland) -Make a left on 2222 -Follow 2222 and stay in the right lane. -On second or third traffic light, the road forks and 2222 goes right so just follow the road -Keep going until you see signs for Mount Bonnel Drive -Get in the left lane and make a left on Mount Bonnel -Drive up the mount until you get to the park Two enterances for the park. One that involves hiking up the mount ( this will be the first enterance you will see) and the other options is to climb up a 100 stairs. you can probably hike up there and come down using stairs. Park your car in the middle of two enterances. 2. Lake Travis a) Oasis: -Exit 2222 on Mopac and make a left. Continue until you hit F.M. 620. -Make a left on 620 and continue for a mile or so and start looking for a s sign on right which says "The Oasis" (it is a white sign with dark blue writing on it). -Turn right on that traffic light where the sign is and follow the road until you get to Oasis b)Windy Point Park: -Get to Oasis but continue following the same road for a few miles, you will hit the windy point park c)Mansflied Dam: -Get to 620 from 2222 and make a left on 620. -Follow the road for few miles (cross the sign for Oasis) until you see signs for Mansfield Dam There is a good park right next to the dam 3. Mozarts Its basically a coffee house right on Lake Austin. The best time to go is sunset. There is an awesome view of sunset from this place -Start going west 24th street from UT. -Cross Lamar and Mopac and continue until you hit exposition -Make a left on Exposition -Make a right on Enfield -Go on Enfield until you hit a dead end -Make a left and Mozarts is on your right. There are a few other restaurants there as well .e.g Hula Hut ( not sure how to spell) is good. -You can find parking right in front of Mozarts if lucky else just park in the parking up on the hill accross the street from Mozarts. 4. The Bat Bridge You should go there at sunset. -Go south on Guadalupe from UT -Make a left on any street once you hace crossed the 11th street -Take a right on congress, cross the bridge and then look make a left into the office of the Austin Statesman newspaper. -Follow your sense of direction to get to the bridge through their parking lot 5. Wild life preserve on 360 Its 2 mile hike/walk trail. Very sceneic. Around Austin ============= 1. Riverwalk in San Antonio ( about 100 miles south of austin) 2. Dam in Hillsboro, TX ( about 125 miles north of austin) 3. LagoVista, TX ( about 30 miles north of Austin) 4. Burnet, TX ( about 50 miles north of Austin ) 5. Fredriksburg, TX ( about 150 miles south of Austin ) Enchanted Rock Park and Riverwalk 6. San Marcus, TX ( about 30 miles south of Austin) Shopping etc
